Well it felt like what could have gone wrong, all went wrong today. First of all I forgot to charge my camera, so halfway round the walk I ran out of battery! Rookie mistake. Try again next time!

But that’s not the end of the world; at the point where I lost battery, I can run down tomorrow and finish the photographs, just redo the walk – Leo and Max won’t complain.

So I’ve been staying with my parents down in Huddersfield the last few days. Today we walked from The Golden Cock pub in Farnley Tyas, towards Honley then around Castle Hill and back to the pub again.

Unfortunately, the second disaster for ‘Wild Walks with wine” was that the pub was full! The school in the village was holding their Christmas Nativity play today so apparently all of the parents and grandparents had decided to go for lunch in The Golden Cock afterwards! How could I have known that a Wednesday lunchtime at the beginning of December was going to be a completely full restaurant in the local pub.

Not to worry, I jumped in the car and collected my Dad (who’s broken his leg at the moment so he’s pretty housebound and was after a change of scene) and we headed off to the Rose & Crown in Thurstonland, a neighbouring village. We had a delicious lunch there, despite the fact it wasn’t part of the original plan! Sometimes these things happen, but it turned out well anyway – I’ll have to walk to the Rose & Crown and eat at the Golden Cock next time!

So on a very blustery, wintery (but quite warm, 12 °C) day, Max, Leo and I enjoyed a very beautiful walk through the Yorkshire countryside. Have a look at the walk and the review of the pub on the rest of the site! Thanks! And don’t forget, if you have any comments or feedback, you can contact me through the site!
